The Queensland Core Skills Test (QCS) takes place on 29 and 30 August this year.
To be eligible for an OP, Year 12 students must sit the QCS test.
It is recognised however, that certain students may not be able to sit the test or can only sit if special arrangements are made for them. If students are exempted from the requirement to sit the test, their OP eligibility will not be affected. Any students with a recognised long-term or short-term condition that may affect their results in the QCS are able to apply for variations to test conditions or exemption from sitting the test. Medical documentation must be provided by a suitable qualified person who is not related to the student and not employed by the school.
In most cases, applications are submitted through the school but may be made directly to the QCAA (e.g. if they have a medical condition they do not wish to disclose to school staff). Applications cannot be made through the school without the consent of the student. The closing date is 21 May 2017 unless the condition is diagnosed after this date.
