Each year, we host our open day, Hillbrook In Action and invite prospective parents and students to experience what we do on a regular school day. At this event there are tours, demonstrations, classroom displays and talks from various members of our school community.
We will keep you informed about various school events, information evenings and student achievements via our biannual Connections magazine and Facebook page. Prospective families are also invited to subscribe to our mobile-friendly school newsletter. Families are welcome to organise a tour of our school during the year.
Currently we conduct interviews for Year 7 entry when the students are in Year 4 (currently in Term 3). The interview process is a valuable opportunity for families considering Hillbrook to learn more about our school, its culture, core values, the curriculum and Outdoor Education program. It is also an opportunity for the school to get to know you and your child and to discuss parent and student expectations and aspirations.
We expect both parents/guardians (if applicable) and the student to attend. Please ensure that all interview paperwork and school reports are provided prior to the scheduled interview, as detailed in the interview pack. It is important to ensure that parent and student expectations are compatible with the Hillbrook philosophy and values.
Every attempt is made to meet the requirements of students requiring learning support within the school’s resourcing capacities. Withholding information of known special needs may have significant implications in the provision of ongoing support of the student so we ask that you provide as much information as possible.
Hillbrook interviews aim to enable parents to make a confident and informed decision about their children’s high school education and are non-selective (e.g. do not influence the offering of a place).
The maximum number of students in each year level is capped at 150. In 2019, Hillbrook increased its Year 7 cohort size to 150 students. We will grow to our new capacity of 900 students by 2024. Following the interview process, places are offered based upon date order of enrolment, with enrolled siblings of current or future-accepted Hillbrook students given preference.
The offer process can take several months to complete as not all families who received an offer will accept the place. We gradually work our way through the list of those families who were interviewed as these places arise.
Should your child be offered a place, it is necessary for both parents (where applicable) to sign and return the Enrolment Agreement and pay the initial Reservation Payment in order to accept the place. A second payment will be due early in the year before high school commences. Of these two payments the “fees in advance” component will be credited towards the first term’s tuition fee. Reservation fees are non-refundable should a family decide to cancel their child’s place.
If you have accepted a place at Hillbrook, we will write to you in the second half of your child’s final Primary School year, with an invitation to attend Family Day.
This is an opportunity for students and their families to spend an afternoon at the school, meeting their prospective class mates and teachers.
Family Day is also an excellent opportunity for students and their family to familiarise themselves with the school. Information regarding our music and outdoor education programs, uniforms, text book hire and stationery purchase will also be provided.
Students who are not successful in the Year 7 intake will automatically have their enrolment rolled over to the following year (unless parents advise us to cancel the enrolment).
As places become available in Years 8-11 we will contact families on our waiting lists. Entry to Year 11 is at the discretion of the School Leadership Team.
It is the responsibility of parents to notify us of any changes in address or student circumstances. Our inability to contact you during the interview phase may lead to the enrolment being cancelled.

Should you decide to cancel your child’s enrolment please advise our Enrolments Officer either by phone on 3354 3422 or send an email to email@example.com as soon as possible. Enrolment fees are not refundable.
For students attending Hillbrook who will not be returning to the school, one term’s notice is required otherwise a term’s fees (in addition to the term just completed) are payable in lieu.
Students completing Year 10 are given until the beginning of term 4 to decide on their future, although earlier notification of an intention to withdraw will always be appreciated.
The founding parents and teachers of Hillbrook set out to create a school that was accessible to a broad range of the community. For this reason our fee schedule is focused on maintaining a balance between the lowest possible fee structure and providing an all-round education of the highest standard for our students.
Hillbrook’s culture is founded on a strong belief in fairness and our fee structure and enrolment policy support this. We believe every child should have an equal opportunity for a place at our school, so enrolments here are accepted in the date order they are received and where possible, keeping a balance between boys and girls. The fee schedule also includes information about our co-curricular music program fees.
The school fees for all students are the same and no family is expected to carry the cost of free or subsidised places for others. For this reason we do not offer scholarships and bursaries, or offer discounts to students of siblings, school staff members, or clergy.
Interestingly, Hillbrook students have consistently performed well ahead of the state mean in Year 12, regularly outperforming many schools that offer academic scholarships.
