Welcome to Hillbrook

We invite you to take a look around Hillbrook from the comfort of your home and in your own time. We hold 3 Open Days (Hillbrook in Action) – during Terms 1-3.

Take a Virtual Tour

We hope you get a sense of life at Hillbrook as we take you on a virtual tour through our grounds and classrooms where our students learn and create connections. If you would like to spend more time in a particular area, please visit the individual videos below.

Our Campus

These videos below will give you a closer look at some of the facilities we have here at Hillbrook. Please enjoy wandering through the spaces where our students learn and grow.

Design, Art and Technology Precinct

This purpose built facility is the new home of all things design at Hillbrook. From visual art to engineering design to graphics – if it’s creative you can do it here.

Industrial Technology Studies (ITS)

Our workshops have been recently renovated to create more light, space and airflow. They are a hub of creativity and activity and students of all ages and abilities enjoy this space.

Food and Nutrition

Explore the modern kitchen facilities where our Food and Nutrition students tease us with the amazing aromas that waft through the school each day.

Cafe and Professional Kitchen

Our Cafe has been built with a long term plan and sustainability front of mind. The state of the art equipment is used to prepare nutritious meals for students, as well as families via our Dinner 2 Go menu.

Tree of Life Chapel

Create a structure worthy of housing the heart and soul of a unique school community“, they said. With this in mind BSPN worked with the school and created exactly that. Again, Hillbrook dared to be different.

English

D Block – our Science and English Precinct – has been purpose built for an optimal learning experience. The classroom layouts were designed to make the most of the natural light and cross breezes.

Science

Our Science, Chemistry and Physics labs have been built with learning in mind. The labs are spacious, full of natural light and well equipped for all levels from Year 7 to Year 12.

Music

Hillbrook has a strong music program. We have a number of practice rooms for individual tutoring, large rooms for ensembles and our big band practice room, which you will see in the video below.

Forecourt

The Hillbrook forecourt is the heart of our school. It’s the central place where our community gathers to share lunch, to talk and come together.

Fly Over

Take a bird’s eye view of the Hillbrook Campus with a flyover where you will see over 490KW of solar panels installed.

Library

The Hillbrook Library is one of the most popular spaces in our School. We really don’t have the words to describe how wonderful this space is. Rather than us tell you, let your eyes see for themselves by watching this video.

Performing Arts Centre (PAC)

The PAC was a major project, with six years of careful consideration being given to ensuring this was an exciting and inspiring learning space, as much as a performance facility. Hillbrook did not want a venue used only on special occasions. Hillbrook dared to be different.

Philosophical Inquiry Room

This room is in regular use by our students for their Philosophical Inquiry lessons and you might notice it doesn’t contain desks and the chairs are set out in a circle. We also use this room to host our exclusive Philosophy Inquiry Teacher Training courses.

Tiered Learning Centre

This learning space is a pivotal part of Hillbrook. From reading groups to visiting presenters to teacher meetings, this area is spacious and relaxed for internal purposes, yet springs to life as a sophisticated, and well appointed theatrette.

Visual Art

Our art studios have been purpose built for creativity. They are filled with light, plenty of break out areas and space to get creative.

Outdoor Education

What is Outdoor Education? It is an active and experiential form of learning conducted primarily in outdoor spaces. At the core of Outdoor Education at Hillbrook is the development and understanding of healthy relationships; with others, the environment and with self. Outdoor Education is a compulsory subject for all students in every Year level.

When the founders of Hillbrook were putting the curriculum together back in the mid-80s they made the strategic decision that the Outdoor Education course would be a separate subject and built into the curriculum. It would be compulsory for all students and would be a developmental course, gradually increasing in difficulty and student responsibility.

Teaching and support staff would all be involved so Outdoor Education wouldn’t be a subject ‘taught over there’ by the Outdoor Education staff.

It was always the aim that National Parks would be the primary venues and we wouldn’t invest in an outdoor centre. Hillbrook students would experience the variety of Australia’s natural environments and understand the impacts humans have on it.

We hope the video below provides you with a sense of some of the journeys our students take.

Weekly Chapel with Chaplain David Adams

Our Chaplain, David Adams has a unique, yet thought-provoking style of delivering his weekly Chapel. During COVID-19, where gathering in groups has not been permitted, David has taken his Chapel presentations to the next level. We thought you would enjoy watching him in action at some recent online Chapels.
